Course Description

The Nurse Aide Curriculum is a comprehensive 6-week training program designed to prepare students for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. This course provides a blend of classroom instruction, practical skills training, and hands-on clinical experience. Students will learn essential nursing skills, patient care techniques, and the ethical and legal responsibilities of a CNA. The curriculum is aligned with state guidelines to ensure that students meet the necessary requirements for certification.

Peace of Mind nursing training course involves learning the skills needed to care for patients, including administering medication, understanding medical procedures, and providing compassionate care. It also involves classroom learning, hands-on training, and clinical experience.--

Course Objectives

The objective of this training program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to become professional and certified nursing assistants. The program curriculum is aligned with current community and industry demands, with an emphasis on applying patient care theory and hands-on training to real-world patient situations. The technical skills acquired in this program will allow students to successfully pass the Virginia Nurse Aide certification exam and ultimately obtain gainful employment as entry-level nursing assistants.

Upon successful completion of the 6-week Nurse Aide Curriculum, students will be able to:

  1. Provide Physical and Emotional Support: Deliver compassionate physical and emotional support to patients in long-term care facilities and hospitals.

  2. Implement Patient Care Plans: Execute patient care plans under the direction of LPN and RN staff, ensuring adherence to medical protocols.

  3. Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients perform ADLs, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and grooming.

  4. Maintain Patient Privacy and Confidentiality: Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality according to facility and state regulations.

  5. Accurately Collect and Record Vital Signs: Accurately measure and document vital signs, including pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.

  6. Understand Basic Nursing Concepts: Demonstrate foundational knowledge of nursing principles, including anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  7. Perform Essential Nursing Skills: Competently carry out basic nursing tasks such as taking vital signs and providing patient care.

  8. Adhere to Safety and Infection Control Procedures: Implement appropriate safety measures and infection control protocols to protect patients and themselves.

  9. Communicate Effectively: Exhibit strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

  10. Follow Ethical and Legal Guidelines: Understand and apply ethical standards and legal regulations related to the nursing profession.

  11. Prepare for the CNA Certification Exam: Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully pass the state CNA certification exam.

This curriculum equips students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to excel as Certified Nursing Assistants and embark on rewarding careers in the healthcare field.
